Puppet On Crack

Firstly what needs to be understood when speaking about the “Puppet on Crack” is that he does not exist, he is simply a figment of your imagination. When you catch him at an event or manage to see him live, the first thing that will stand out when looking at him is the creepy mask he wears. This mask is the very symbol of creative imagination and proof that the “Puppet on Crack” himself, does not exist. The “Puppet on Crack” is just an “Idea” or a “style” to say, for if people praise or love “The Puppet on Crack” it then becomes a love or praise for the idea or style of it and not for the person himself. Ensuring that the person behind the mask is not wrongly worshipped. Keeping Producer and Idea Seprate is essential, for passion in creating music and creating passion in others.

Behind the mask there is the producer, Chad Fulton…

Chad was born in South Africa, and from a very early age he started to show a huge interest and develop a strong passion towards music. At the tender age of 8 he wanted nothing else to listen to beside Trance which was influenced on him by his uncle. Forever an extreme person Chad quickly became familiar with big hit DJ’s such as Tiesto and Paul van Dyk and wanted nothing more than to be a hit superstar DJ when he grew up. At age 11 he started blending songs together on windows “sound recorder” it was nothing spectacular, but it was enough to kick off a frenzy of DJ passion! Then by 16 he attended the “DJ Mix Club Academy” and after 3 months of training Chad or “DJ Oneiro” took first place at the DJ graduation night.

In his late teens a new genre of music began to surface in South Africa, the “Jackin” and “Fidget” industry which never interested Chad much, until he started to witness the craze that was infecting almost every club in SA. Chad soon started to see the point, and ever so slowly became more interested in the scene. Chad was very picky in this industry and only liked the very few songs that where coming out. It was not enough to begin a firm DJ career in this genre, but still he slowly kept collecting. He then entered the “Ruby Blue” DJ Competition, which at the time, promoted the Jackin/Fidget industry. While DJ’ing his set, he started to notice the passion the crowd were showing toward the music, in a dance called “The SA Skit”, “Skitting” or “Stepping”. He loved the passion and was forever memorised by the wacky and very creative dance, and developed a new sprouting passion for the industry!

However, his taste of music in this industry was rare to find and even tougher to collect. He needed a plan of action. This is where “Mr. Fruity Loops Studio” comes into the picture. Chad descovered this program through friends and quickly became an addict! By the age of 19 chad finished his first song, called “The Puppet on Crack” It was no way a masterpiece but the style, taste and idea of the song was everything Chad was looking for in the industry. Showing all his friends and family his first production, Chad was told by everyone that “The Puppet on Crack” was a fantastic name. This automaticaly sparked and idea for a double DJ alis. “DJ Oneiro” was Chad’s first alias and was already known by his local community as being associated with trance music.

Chad then decided to take the name “Puppet on Crack” for his alis in the Jackin/Fidget industry and rename his track to “Arachnophobia” and this was the birthday of the “Puppet on Crack”. He thought this went well for both alises as he could now for the pOc logo, for both the “Puppet on Crack” and “DJ Oneiro”. This is why the “O” in pOc is capital, for it represents both alises. Till today at the age of 22 Chad has shown a huge passion for both the Trance and Jackin/Fidget industrys and continues to make music for both genres and will continue to do so, for as long as his passion remains.
